──What are your COVID precautions?
All therapists in our office building are taking the needed or recommended precautions that are consistent with the standards of care to reduce exposure to COVID-19. If you are not comfortable meeting in-person, we are happy to have an appointment online over Zoom, or even meet you outside at Camel’s Back Park.
How do I get started?
Finding the right fit for counseling is one of the most important parts of therapy. Contact or e-mail us and we will discuss which of our therapists would be the best fit for you. If none of us are a good fit for any reason, we are happy to help you find a counselor who meets your needs.
Do I need counseling?
Whenever we want, and need, to change and improve things in our life, we find a professional to help us. From doctors to plumbers, to roofers, hiring a professional yields better results than most of us can do ourselves. You may or may not need therapy. We are happy to talk with you and help you decide if you do or do not need it. Sometimes us counselors have gone to therapy ourselves. Sometimes it was definitely needed, and other times it was simply to help us thrive more in our lives. At times it is helpful to have someone outside of ourselves to guide us.
If you have any questions, we will provide honest feedback that we feel is in your best interest. If you do decide to attend counseling sessions with us, we will periodically assess your progress to make sure that therapy is effective for you.

What should I expect?
We will do our best to help and support you. Most people have some anxiety about coming to therapy at first, however, once they are sitting with us in our comfortable environment, they tend to relax and make progress quickly. You can expect a safe and comfortable space where you can speak freely about anything. We will do our best to be non-judgmental, understanding, and we will always have your back. You are the expert in your life and we are experts at helping you make your life even better. We personalize your therapy to what you need at this time. You will notice significant changes for the better, especially if you are active in your therapy and apply what you learn outside of our counseling sessions.
How often do I come in for treatment and how long are the sessions?
This depends on the challenges you are facing and how much progress you would like to make. Our goal is that your therapy sessions will be short-term. We focus on helping our clients make the desired changes as quickly as possible.
At first, we usually meet with people weekly. As progress is made, we will start to lengthen the time between sessions. The average number of sessions is usually around 3-6 sessions. Sessions are usually around 50 minutes, but we can lengthen the time if that is what you need.

Practice. The more you practice the tools and strategies taught, the more progress you will make.
Information. People who read, watch videos, and listen to podcasts related to their therapy goals make more progress between sessions.
Striking While the Iron is Cold. Notice when you are doing things right and tell yourself positive affirmations. Reinforce the positive.
Goals. Set goals that you are likely to accomplish. As you meet your goals, continue to increase how challenging your goal is a little bit at a time.
Meditation/Breathing. This is one of the most helpful tools we have to control our emotions and behaviors.
Sharing. Share what you are learning with others. Truly mastering something comes when you teach and share it.

What should I know about insurance and payments?
We do not accept insurance payments, but depending on your plan, you may have coverage for your sessions. We are considered “fee for service” psychologists and accept full payment at the time of service. For persons with out-of-network insurance coverage, our billing agent submits the sessions to claims in order to secure reimbursement for you. If you have out-of-network coverage, a reimbursement check will be written in your name and mailed directly to you. Let us know if you have any questions about this. We accept payment at the time of service in the form of cash, check, or HAS cards.

What are your fees?
Counseling fees vary between the therapists and it is suggested that you check in with your therapist before meeting about insurance coverage and fees. Generally, the fees for therapy are as follows.
Individual Counseling/Couples/Relationship Counseling/Family Therapy - $125-200 (50 minutes)
A $100 fee is charged directly to the individual for missed sessions or those that are canceled less than 24 hours before your scheduled time.
